Carry a little piece of Gretna Green with you wherever you go with our our anvil keyring. The story of the Gretna Green Anvil dates back to 1754 when England passed the Marriage Act, which required parental consent for those under 21 to marry. In Scotland, however, young couples could marry without such restrictions. As a result, many couples fled to Gretna Green, the first village over the Scottish border, to be married quickly and easily.
The village blacksmiths, known as "anvil priests," conducted these marriages over the blacksmith's anvil, symbolising the forging of a strong union. The anvil became a powerful emblem of love and commitment, and the tradition of getting married over the anvil continues to this day.
Made from metal, the anvil keyring is both sturdy and stylish, designed to withstand daily use while adding a touch of elegance to your keys or bag.
